Foreign Minister holds talks with Israeli counterpart

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, held a session of talks today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel, Eli Cohen, on the occasion of his visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The Foreign Minister welcomed his Israeli counterpart. He affirmed that the meeting provides an opportunity to review the progress made since the signing of the Abraham Accords and to explore various ways to achieve peace and prosperity in the region, stressing the importance of addressing the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, given its crucial role as a basis for regional peace and development.

Dr. Al-Zayani stressed the importance of finding common ground for understanding and cooperation through mutual respect and working to build a future of harmony, stability and common prosperity.

Foreign Minister Cohen expressed his pleasure to visit the Kingdom of Bahrain, which coincides with the anniversary of the signing of the Abraham Accords, noting the importance of joint cooperation in achieving peace and stability in the region as well as in promoting bilateral relations in various fields, including the economic, cultural and innovation fields.

He also pointed to the importance of the participation of a delegation of businessmen in this visit, which is proof of the strong economic relations between the two countries, which would open up new and promising trade opportunities.

The two ministers discussed aspects of mutual relations between the two countries, reviewed the level of bilateral cooperation and what has been achieved in this field within the framework of the memorandums of understanding signed between the two countries, and exchanged views on areas of developing cooperation.

They also discussed the results of developing cooperation among the countries of the region to advance the efforts to achieve stability, peace and prosperity in the region. They stressed the importance of concerted efforts by all to achieve concrete results that benefit the countries of the region and their peoples.

They also discussed the latest political and security developments in the region and the repercussions of regional conflicts on security and stability in the area, in addition to issues of common interest at the regional and international levels.

They discussed the latest developments in the Palestinian territories, where the Foreign Minister stressed the importance of a just, comprehensive and sustainable solution to the Palestinian issue, in accordance with the two-state solution, the Arab Peace Initiative and the relevant international legitimacy resolutions.

The meeting was attended by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Political Affairs, Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, the Director General of Legal Affairs and Human Rights, Dr. Youssef Abdul Karim Bucheeri, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the State of Israel, Khalid Yousef Al-Jalahma, the Ambassador of the State of Israel to the Kingdom Eitan Na’eh, in addition to a number of senior officials in the foreign ministries of the two countries.
