Foreign Combat Forces not Needed in Iraq, Says Prime Minister

Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shia Al Sudani announced Monday that Iraq does not need foreign combat forces on its territories, indicating that the government is conducting advanced dialogues to determine the form of future relationship and cooperation with the US-led international coalition.

In a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Media Office, Al Sudani stressed the need to preserve the work of the security establishment and its professional path in accordance with the law and the constitution, which is a commitment of all political forces, and within the political agreement under which this government was formed.

The government must discuss all plans and preparations and remain ready for any movement that ISIS may resort to, which is trying to restore life to its ranks, he added.

The Iraqi Prime Minister affirmed the sustainability of security and stability as political and social goals for the Iraqi nationals and government.
