Ministries of Interior in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the State of Kuwait have agreed to form joint executive working teams to discuss a number of areas of security cooperation and coordination, including criminal security, cybersecurity, and combating terrorism, in addition to issues of traffic, operations, electronic connectivity, passports, visas, and ports.
The work teams shall submit reports on the results of their work to the Joint Security Committee.
This came during the first meeting of the committee, which was held in the Kingdom of Bahrain over two days, chaired by Chief of Public Security Lieutenant-General Tariq bin Hasan Al Hasan, and Undersecretary of Ministry of Interior in Kuwait Lieutenant-General Anwar Abdullatif Al Barjas.
Chief of Public Security delivered a speech in which he welcomed Undersecretary of the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior and the accompanying delegation, expressing his pride in the distinguished relations between the two brotherly countries, and extending sincere congratulations to Shaikh Talal Khaled Al Ahmad Al Sabah on the occasion of renewing his appointment as First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. He praised the success of the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior in organising the democratic process for the recent National Assembly elections.
Chief of Public Security expressed his appreciation for the support of Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa to all public security fields, which contributed to the development of security cooperation regionally and internationally through the activation of agreements and memoranda of understanding.
He also pointed out that the meeting of the joint security committee came within the framework of the joint approach to confirm the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries’ cohesion, and strengthen the historical fraternity ties that unite the GCC states, explaining that the security and regional data and the accelerating challenges in the Gulf region, impose the continuation of the joint approach to protect security, stability and enhance public safety.
He added that the meeting is being held according to the memorandum of understanding between the two countries to security cases and issues, highlighting the commitment of the Bahraini Interior Ministry to implementing memoranda of understanding and security cooperation agreements with the GCC countries.
Chief of Public Security said, ” it is a good occasion to review the security memorandum of understanding in light of the surrounding regional changes and circumstances, and to keep in touch of recent developments in combating crimes of through a new perspective that keeps pace with the current and future situation,” praising the efforts of the two countries and their joint aspirations to expand cooperation. And coordination, which confirms that the security of Bahrain and Kuwait is an indivisible whole and that their goals are common.
He stressed that the relations between the two brotherly countries have become a model for strategic cooperation in various fields, especially security, praising these bilateral meetings, which would exchange security views to confront challenges and support security cooperation.
