Financial Analyst to QNA: QSE Ends in Green Zone, Approaching 10,000 Point

Doha: The Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) index rose 2 percent this week, adding 193.720 points to its tally, reaching a level of 9,876 points in the green zone, supported by most sectors, especially the communications and transportation sectors, which rose by around 3.81 percent and 2.92 percent respectively.

According to Qatar News Agency, financial markets analyst Yousef Buhlaiqa noted that the positive performance characterized trading on QSE during this week, continuing its gains for the fourth consecutive session. This improvement is attributed to better investor sentiment resulting from signs of easing geopolitical tensions in the region and renewed hopes for diplomatic progress concerning Iran and the Strait of Hormuz.

Buhlaiqa highlighted that the QSE index approached the 9,900-point level during the week's trading, driven by purchases impacting several leading stocks and transport sector stocks, particularly "Nakilat" company. He observed that the market movement signals improved investor appetite as some fears related to the regional conflict's impact on energy and trade markets recede.

Looking ahead, Buhlaiqa anticipated that the QSE index might continue to ascend to higher levels in the coming week, with the 10,000-point level as a significant technical target. He emphasized that the continuation of this rise depends on developments in oil prices, regional negotiations, and the improvement in liquidity and purchases in leading stocks.

The gains in the Qatari market occurred alongside a decline in global oil prices, as crude prices fell over several sessions. This decline is fueled by optimism that arrangements might be reached to ease supply disruptions and facilitate more regular reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
