EWA to build five EVs fast charging stations

Yaser bin Ibrahim Humaidan, Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs (EWA), met with the Chairman and members of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Car Dealers Association.

The minister stressed the keenness of the ministry in adopting policies that encourage the use of Electric Vehicles (EVs) and pointed out that the EWA is planning on building five fast charging stations for EVs that contribute to achieving what was announced by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister in the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) regarding Bahrain aim to reach zero neutrality in the year 2060.

The meeting showcased the efforts to promote renewable energy projects, including the use of EVs as well as the goals of developing new renewable energy projects and the required infrastructure for EVs which will contribute to promoting public awareness resulting in a sustainable lifestyle.

The enhancement of the partnership between the private sector and the civil society institutions will contribute to developing various services offered to the citizens and residents of the Kingdom, Humaidan said.

The Chairman and members of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Car Dealers Association expressed their gratitude to EWA’s keenness to provide the proper infrastructure to attract EVs to the Kingdom.

This will contribute to making Bahrain an advanced model that keeps pace with global technology in the field of EVs, the Chairman and members of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Car Dealers Association added.
