European Stocks Show Mixed Performance Amid Interest Rate Concerns

Doha: European shares were steady on Thursday as investors remained cautious amid persistent uncertainty over the path of US interest rates, while assessing a batch of corporate earnings results. The pan-European STOXX 600 index rose 0.1 percent to 645.67 points. Energy stocks also gained 0.3 percent, with Brent crude futures climbing above USD 90 a barrel.

According to Qatar News Agency, Schneider Electric shares jumped 7 percent after the industrial group raised its full-year outlook. However, Adidas emerged as the biggest loser on the STOXX 600 index, with its shares falling 15 percent despite the company raising its sales forecast for the current year. Airbus shares also experienced a decline, falling 2.3 percent, despite the company reporting stronger-than-expected quarterly results.
