Doha: EU member states passed a targeted amendment to the regulation on CO2 standards for new passenger cars and vans, allowing car manufacturers to meet emissions targets this year. Consequently, car companies will now be granted a three-year period to meet their goals, which means that they will not face immediate fines.

According to Qatar News Agency, the new amendment will be published in the EU’s Official Journal and will take effect 20 days after publication.
