ERC implements first phase of ‘Mother of the Emirates Development Projects’ in Ethiopia

On the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and the monitoring of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), the ERC has implemented the first phase of the “Mother of the Emirates Development Projects” in Ethiopia.

The projects include the construction of four schools comprising 70 classes, libraries, administration offices and laboratories, which will benefit 7,500 students, and a childhood and motherhood hospital that will benefit 100,000 cases annually.

The second phase will involve the provision of eight buses to offer a means of transportation.

The ERC will also distribute more than 88,000 food parcels, which will benefit nearly 700,000 people, and had reinforced its efforts to improve the humanitarian and development conditions in Ethiopia.

Dr. Mohammed Ateeq Al Falahi, ERC Secretary-General, said His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed has ordered those concerned to further support Ethiopia in overcoming its dire humanitarian conditions.

The monitoring of Sheikh Hamdan of the progress of work and his constant directives to provide rapid and adequate support highlight his efforts to end human suffering, he added.

Al Falahi stressed that the relevant directives of the UAE’s leadership embody the values of tolerance that characterises the UAE, and its support for the Ethiopian people confirms the deep-rooted ties between the two countries.
