The Equal Opportunities Committee at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held its inaugural meeting following the issuance of Edict (78) of 2023, restructuring it.
Dr. Yusuf Abdulkarim Bucheeri, the Director General of Legal Affairs and Human Rights at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, chaired the meeting, attended by members from various sectors and departments of the ministry.
Dr. Bucheeri emphasised the importance of the role entrusted to the Equal Opportunities Committee at the Ministry, in accordance with the directives Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women.
The committee chairman praised the constant support of Foreign Affairs Minister, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani.
The meeting focused on the Foreign Affairs Ministry’s plan for equal opportunities and gender balance for 2023-2024, as well as proposals on ways to implement it through a number of projects and initiatives.
The committee also discussed a number of initiatives aimed at supporting national female diplomats in Bahrain and abroad.
The panel operates in accordance with the regulations issued by the Civil Service Bureau to create equal opportunities committees in various government institutions and works towards achieving their objectives.
