RASHEEDA: The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs has inaugurated a new mosque in the Rasheeda area, marking a significant step in its ongoing efforts to expand and modernize religious infrastructure. The new mosque, which accommodates 300 worshipers, is part of a larger initiative aligned with the Qatar National Vision 2030, aimed at addressing urbanization and population growth.
According to Qatar News Agency, the newly opened mosque occupies a 7,694-square-meter plot and features a main prayer hall, a spacious washing area, and multiple public parking spaces, including those dedicated to individuals with disabilities. Designed with meticulous attention to detail, the mosque also boasts a prominent minaret, enhancing its visibility and accessibility.
The Engineering Affairs Department of the Ministry is responsible for ensuring that the needs of all areas across the country are met concerning mosques and prayer rooms. This includes overseeing the construction and maintenance of these facilities, ensuring they adhere to technical and engineering specifications, and maintaining a comprehensive database of existing mosques and prayer rooms.
The department also emphasizes sustainability and heritage in its projects, incorporating green building requirements and ensuring efficient water and electricity use. Additionally, it strives to preserve the aesthetic and cultural legacy of Qatari and Islamic architectural designs, while also considering population density and other demographic factors.
Efforts to make mosque locations more accessible have been enhanced by the ministry’s website, which offers a search function based on global navigation systems. This feature provides detailed maps that help users locate mosques throughout the country with ease.
