DOHA: The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs’ General Directorate of Endowments, in collaboration with Qatar Postal Services Company, has announced the release of a new set of commemorative stamps. The series, comprising 10 distinct designs, marks the centenary of the Abdullah bin Saad endowment, a significant fixture in the history of Qatari endowments.
According to Qatar News Agency, Eng. Hassan Abdullah Al Marzouqi, Director-General of the General Directorate of Endowments, emphasized the historical importance of the Abdullah bin Saad endowment. He stated that it stands as one of Qatar’s oldest, reflecting the country’s rich heritage of endowments. Over the past century, the endowment has evolved from its original form to include villas, traditional houses, and modern residential buildings with annexes in the Bin Mahmoud area, as well as various investment projects.
Al Marzouqi highlighted the endowment’s role in providing sustainable support for religious activities, the Noble Quran, mosques, orphanages, healthcare, and education for students. He noted the substantial impact of these initiatives on the community.
Qatar Post’s Chairman and Managing Director, Faleh bin Mohammed Al Naemi, detailed the logistics of the stamp issuance, revealing that 50,000 commemorative stamps will be produced, divided into 5,000 sets. Each set will contain ten stamps, each valued at QR 2. The stamp designs will feature nine prominent endowment architectural landmarks in Qatar, including the General Directorate of Endowments building and the Sheikh Abdulla Bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Center.
