Doha: Eleven people were killed on Sunday when a civilian aircraft crashed in Tomblaine, near Nancy in northeastern France.
According to Qatar News Agency, local authorities said all 11 people on board were killed, including the pilot, five instructors, and five trainee skydivers. The aircraft belonged to a skydiving school and crashed shortly after takeoff.
The plane went down in a grassy area near the runway at Nancy-Essey Airport, close to a residential neighborhood. Authorities confirmed that no one on the ground was injured in the crash.
French authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause and circumstances of the accident.
