Doha: The Center for Empowerment and Care of the Elderly (Ehsan) is celebrating World Alzheimer's Day, held on September 21 each year, as part of its efforts to spread social awareness about the disease and support the elderly, people affected by it, and their families. This initiative also aims to instill values of loyalty and respect, integrating this important group into society. According to Qatar News Agency, Ehsan is marking the occasion by sharing a series of awareness materials that emphasize the importance of patience, understanding, and communication with elderly people suffering from Alzheimer's disease. These materials aim to foster a better understanding of the social responsibility towards these individuals and their families, who play a crucial role in their care and support. In alignment with World Alzheimer's Day, Ehsan is illuminating several buildings and landmarks in purple, the official color associated with Alzheimer's, to draw society's attention to supporting affected individuals and their families and the challenges they encounter. Sheikha Ahmed Al Harib, the director of the communication and media department at the center, expressed that World Alzheimer's Day represents a significant opportunity to renew commitment to the elderly suffering from this disease and their families. It is also a chance to enhance social awareness about the importance of supporting and caring for them. She added that spreading awareness and educating people about the disease contributes to building a more understanding society and encourages people to take care of those who are dearly beloved.
