Egypt’s President Calls for Strict Adherence to Gaza and Iran Ceasefire Agreements

Cairo: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on Saturday emphasized the necessity of implementing the Sharm El-Sheikh Agreement for a ceasefire in Gaza, alongside the agreement to end hostilities between the United States and Iran. He urged the full execution of these agreements and called for measures to prevent any actions that might hinder or undermine them.

According to Qatar News Agency, El-Sisi made these remarks during the inauguration of the Strategic Command Headquarters in Egypt's New Capital. He highlighted Egypt's concerted efforts to stop the conflicts, prevent escalation, and save lives. Furthermore, he expressed gratitude to U.S. President Donald Trump for his role in facilitating the Sharm El-Sheikh Agreement to conclude the conflict in Gaza, as well as the subsequent agreement to end the war with Iran.

President El-Sisi underscored that the enduring resolution to the Middle East's conflicts lies in achieving a comprehensive and equitable peace agreement. This agreement should address the Palestinian issue by establishing an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with international legitimacy.

He stated that without a just peace, there can be no lasting stability, genuine peace, or popular normalization. A just peace is essential to end occupation, halt injustice and aggression, restore rights to their rightful owners, and ensure security for all. It offers the people of the region the chance to live in stability and prosperity, ushers in a new era of cooperation and development, and secures a brighter future that the region's populations deserve.

Additionally, El-Sisi remarked on the successive exceptional crises Egypt has faced since 2011, culminating in the Gaza conflict and the recent war involving Iran. He noted these crises have resulted in significant losses, including over $10 billion in revenue lost from the Suez Canal due to attacks on shipping in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, as well as rising energy and food prices, supply chain disruptions, and the influx of millions of displaced individuals into Egypt.

Regarding the newly inaugurated Strategic Command Headquarters, El-Sisi described it as a significant advancement in Egypt's command-and-control and operational management capabilities. He pointed out the facility's advanced technological infrastructure, secure communications systems, and sophisticated intelligence collection and analysis capabilities, which enable the integration of leadership and executive levels into a unified framework that enhances precision, speeds decision-making, and improves response times.
