Sharm el sheikh: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi praised the sincere efforts of the State of Qatar, the United States, and Turkiye to reach the Sharm El-Sheikh Agreement to end the war in the Gaza Strip.
According to Qatar News Agency, in his speech on Monday at the Sharm El Sheikh Peace Summit, El Sisi affirmed his support for the implementation of the peace plan, which would create the necessary political horizon for implementing the two-state solution, as it is the only way to achieve the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian and Israeli peoples to end the conflict and live in security.
He described the convening of the “Sharm El Sheikh Peace Summit” as a historic turning point with the conclusion of the agreement “to end the war in Gaza,” signaling a glimmer of hope.
He expressed hope that the deal would end a painful chapter in human history, open the door to a new era of peace and stability in the Middle East, and offer a better tomorrow to the region’s conflict-weary peoples.
The Egyptian President welcomed the courageous and peace-loving leadership, whose efforts have contributed to ending the conflict and achieving security and development in the region and the world.
He expressed his profound appreciation for the American President and his wise leadership in navigating this sensitive time, which culminated in the plan to end this tragic war that had cost humanity so much.
President El Sisi reiterated his thanks to the partners in the United States, Turkiye, and Qatar for their sincere efforts.
He emphasized Egypt’s support and eagerness to see the plan implemented, arguing that it creates the essential political space needed for the two-state solution to materialize, which is the only way for the Palestinian and Israeli peoples to realize their legitimate ambition to end the conflict and live safely.
He further clarified that since all peoples in the region enjoy their right to independent nation-states, the Palestinian people are “no exception.” He asserted their right to self-determination, to look forward to a future free from the specter of war, and to enjoy freedom and live in their own independent state.
El Sisi called for reflection on the relief and happiness witnessed across Gaza, the Israeli street, and the entire world following the agreement to end the war, crediting the American President’s wise initiative. He said this public reaction was further proof that peace is the shared choice of all peoples.
He also thanked the US President for his commitment to restoring life in Gaza.
The Egyptian President pledged that Egypt would work with the United States and coordinate with all partners in the coming days to establish the joint foundations for proceeding with the reconstruction of the Strip without delay.
In this context, he announced Egypt’s intention to host a “Recovery, Reconstruction, and Development Conference,” which will build upon the US plan to end the Gaza war.
He outlined that the goal is to provide a decent life for Palestinians on their land and give them hope, pointing out that peace is not complete until a hand is extended for construction after destruction.
El Sisi concluded by envisioning a bright future for the region, where cities are built with hope instead of memories being buried under rubble.
He stated that the world is faced with a unique, perhaps final, historic opportunity to establish a Middle East free from all threats to its stability and progress.
He described this desired “New Middle East” as one where all peoples enjoy peace and a dignified life within secure borders and with protected rights; a region resilient against terrorism and extremism; and one free of all weapons of mass destruction.
He affirmed that Egypt looks forward to embodying this vision in cooperation with its regional and international partners.
He stated that today’s agreement paves the way for this future and must be solidified, its phases fully executed, and the two-state solution achieved to secure the shared vision of cooperation and even integration among all nations in the region.
