Egypt Secures World Cup Spot with 3-0 Victory Over Djibouti

Casablanca: Egypt have secured their place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after defeating Djibouti 3-0 in Casablanca, thanks to a brace from captain Mohamed Salah and a goal from Ibrahim Adel.

According to Qatar News Agency, the victory takes Egypt to 23 points at the top of Group A, five clear of Burkina Faso, who beat Sierra Leone 1-0 in a simultaneous match. Egypt become the third African team and fourth Arab nation to qualify for the tournament in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, following Morocco, Tunisia, and Jordan.

This marks Egypt’s fourth World Cup appearance after previous qualifications in 1934, 1990, and 2018. Head coach Hossam Hassan makes history as the first Egyptian to reach the World Cup as both a player and a manager.

Egypt will face Guinea-Bissau in Cairo on Sunday in their final group match.
