Egypt and EU Discuss Palestinian Territories and Support Settlement Efforts

Cairo: Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelaaty met with a European delegation led by Christophe Bigot, the European Union’s Special Representative for the Middle East Peace Process, during his visit to Egypt.

According to Qatar News Agency, they discussed developments in the occupied Palestinian territories and international efforts to support a comprehensive settlement process. The meeting highlighted the importance of consolidating the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, ensuring the unobstructed flow of aid, and preparing for the deployment of a temporary international stabilization force.

The Egyptian Foreign Minister also stressed the need to proceed with the formation of a Palestinian technocratic committee as a step towards the return of the Palestinian Authority to the Gaza Strip. He emphasized Egypt’s firm stance against any initiatives aimed at displacing Palestinians or altering the geographic and demographic character of the Gaza Strip.
