Education Minister Highlights Talent Attraction to Boost Educational Sector

Doha:The Education Minister, Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater, emphasized the importance of attracting top talent within the nation, focusing on citizens and residents, to enhance the educational sector.

According to Qatar News Agency, Al Khater highlighted during a World Teachers' Day ceremony that the Ministry of Education and Higher Education is collaborating with relevant authorities to implement this strategy effectively. The Ministry, in partnership with Qatar University, has reviewed the Bachelor of Education programs to update academic pathways in line with current educational needs.

Al Khater expressed gratitude to Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani for his support in recruiting talented individuals for the educational profession. She stressed the significant role teachers play in national development and the impact they leave on students over time.

The Minister praised the efforts of state institutions and teachers in maintaining educational continuity during challenging times. Teachers have been instrumental in providing a secure learning environment and training students in safety measures, reinforcing their role as educators and guides.

Al Khater noted that the resilience shown by teachers reflects the vision of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, who emphasized investment in people and national capabilities. She also highlighted the longstanding Qatari tradition of honoring educators, as exemplified by the late HH the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani.

The Tumooh Program has supported the graduation of 1,766 teachers, with 1,147 still in training. Male enrollment in education majors has significantly increased, and access to the program has been broadened to include children of Qatari women and permanent residents.

The "Tamheen" program has diversified pathways into teaching, with 197 teachers completing it. The partnership with Teach For Qatar has brought 575 participants from various fields into public schools.

Over 33,000 educators have benefited from the Ministry's Training and Development Center, and 1,466 professional licenses have been issued this year. The Khibrat program has facilitated the exchange of innovative ideas, resulting in 105 projects tackling educational challenges.

Khamis al Kuwari, a recognized teacher, commended the Prime Minister for supporting the education workforce and emphasized the enduring impact of teachers in shaping future generations.
