Dozens Trapped After Building Under Construction Collapses in the Philippines

Manila: A building under construction collapsed on Sunday north of the Philippine capital Manila, trapping at least 30 people under the rubble.

According to Qatar News Agency, media reports stated that the building collapsed in the early morning hours. Rescue and emergency teams immediately rushed to the scene to begin search and rescue operations, amid fears that more people might be trapped.

Philippine authorities have not yet released an official death toll or number of injured, while civil defense and rescue teams continue their efforts to reach those trapped inside the collapsed building.

Initial reports indicate that a number of workers were at the construction site when the collapse occurred, but the official cause of the accident is still unknown.

Local authorities have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances of the incident to verify compliance with safety standards and engineering requirements at the project.
