The Municipality of Doha participated in the emergency meeting of the Executive Council of the Arab Towns Organization, which was held yesterday (Sunday) at its headquarters in the State of Kuwait.
During the meeting, the representatives of the member cities unanimously agreed to appoint Mr. Abdulrahman Hisham Saad Al-Asfour as the new Secretary-General of the Organization, after being nominated by the State of Kuwait, as a successor of Eng. Ahmed Mohammed Al-Subaih, former Secretary-General of the Organization.
The delegation of the Municipality of Doha was chaired by Mr. Mansour Ajran Al-Buainain, Director General of the Municipality and Chairman of the Arab Towns Organization Award. The delegation included Mr. Hamad Ali Al-Kaabi, Director of the Public Affairs Department of the Municipality, and Mr. Issa Rashid Al-Bader, Director of the Arab Towns Organization Award.
Mr. Mansour Al-Buainain affirmed Doha Municipality’s further keenness to strengthen the cooperation with the Arab Towns Organization to achieve its aspiration and promote the Arab cities through the implementation of comprehensive sustainable development plans at all levels.
He expressed his thanks and gratitude to the former Secretariat of the Arab Towns Organization for its continuous support to all its institutions and member cities during its journey of achievements, wishing the current Secretariat every success in all its endeavors to promote the Organization and its institutions, to be in the ranks of other international and regional organizations.
The Director General of the Municipality of Doha stressed the full readiness to enhance cooperation and solidarity with the General Secretariat of the Arab Towns Organization and the officials of the Arab cities that are members of the Organization regarding any decisions and recommendations to serve all Arab cities and contribute to their development.
