Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Holds Phone Call with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada

HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani held on Thursday a phone call with HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada Marc Garneau.

During the phone call, they reviewed bilateral cooperation relations between the two countries, and the latest field developments in Afghanistan, in both its security and political aspects.

For his part, HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada thanked the State of Qatar for its effective contribution to evacuating civilians in Afghanistan and ensuring their safe passage, and for its unremitting and continuous efforts in the peace process in the region.

HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed during the phone call, the importance of protecting civilians and the need to intensify the necessary efforts to achieve national reconciliation, as well as to seek a comprehensive political settlement that guarantees a peaceful transfer of power in Afghanistan, in line with the gains achieved by the Afghan people.
