Czech magazine, Lidé a zeme, (People and Countries) specialized in tourism has published a photo report on soap industry in Aleppo city.
“Aleppo laurel soap is the oldest of its kind in the world, and this industry has recovered after the damage inflicted on it during the terrorist war,” Czech orientalist, Dr. Lenka Hrabalova, who prepared the report said.
Hrabalova added that the laurel soap has become a symbol of Aleppo city and is an important part of its industry and economy.
Hrabalova went on saying that although Romans knew soap, but Europeans discovered it only during the Crusades in the Middle East.
She noted that laurel oil is what makes soap of Aleppo famous worldwide.
