Communications minister opens annual forum of Qodwatech initiative


Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Tallat inaugurated the annual forum of the “Qodwatech” initiative for empowering women (Women’s Empowerment in the Digital Transformation Era)

The event is organized by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology under the slogan: “Qodwatech: Advanced Digital Solutions Towards Sustainable Impact”, coinciding with the international and local celebrations of International Women’s Day during the month of March each year.

Addressing the forum, Talaat emphasized that the success of the communications and information technology sector lies in its ability to adapt modern technologies to achieve societal, economic, and developmental impacts across various sectors of society.

He pointed out to the “Qodwatech” initiative launched by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to empower Egyptian women to use modern technological means to develop their projects and access target markets.

He explained that the celebration in March o
f the 5th anniversary of the launch of the “Qodwatech” initiative coincides with events honoring women, whether at the local level through Egyptian Women’s Day or internationally on International Women’s Day.

He praised the success stories of the women and girls benefiting from the initiative, which represent shining examples for many women who have been able to harness technology to achieve their goals. He emphasized the ministry’s keenness to ensure women’s participation in all initiatives, whether related to training or aimed at creating job opportunities and monitoring participation rates.

Talaat added that the participation rate of women in the communications and information technology sector in general reached 45%, expressing his aspiration to increase this percentage.

He thanked the team responsible for implementing the initiative, as well as expressing gratitude to the United Nations Development Program and other partners in implementing the initiative from governmental and civil society entities.
