Children’s Situation in Gaza Gets Worse Compounded by Rising Heat, Says UNICEF

Geneva, The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) warned Saturday that the situation in the Gaza Strip is getting worse for children amid the surge in summer temperatures in the densely populated Strip, particularly those who live in camps over sands.

UNICEF Spokesperson James Elder said that one of the most prominent repercussions of forced displacement in Rafah is the fact that there are 3,000 children who were receiving urgent food aid, but now their whereabouts are unknown.

Elder highlighted that the ongoing restrictions on getting aid into the Strip, stressing that Gazans are facing an extremely challenging situation to feed their children, and it is extraordinary for children to experience constant horror due to the Israeli bombing.
