Chief of Human Rights Affairs Sector meets officials in human rights field in Netherlands

Amsterdam, Ambassador Dr. Arwa Hassan Al Sayed, the Chief of Human Rights Affairs, met with a number of officials in the Netherlands.

The meeting aimed to review Bahrain’s achievements in the field of human rights, exchanging experiences, and exploring opportunities for future cooperation between the two countries in this field.

During her visit, Ambassador Al Sayed met with Vim Gert, Ambassador for Human Rights Affairs and Josey Cortelas Teis, Director for North Africa and the Middle East.

The meeting highlighted Bahrain’s progress over the past decades in promoting human rights, including the development of advanced institutions and legislation, as well as mechanisms that ensure the protection and respect of human rights in all areas, culminating in the adoption of the National Human Rights Plan 2022 – 2026.

The meetings also included a discussion with Bia Toscher, Special Envoy for Religious Freedom, and Pieter Derk Hof, Ambassador for Women’s Affairs and Special Rapporteur on Combating Human Traffick
ing.

A roundtable was also held with diplomats in the field of human rights which discussed Bahrain’s current projects as a part of the National Human Rights Plan in collaboration with all partners.

For their part, the Dutch side expressed appreciation for the importance of these meetings and their role in highlighting the significant developments taking place in Bahrain in the field of human rights. Officials emphasised the importance of continuing the dialogue to enhance cooperation and exchange experiences between the two countries.

Fahad Abdulaziz Al Binali, Director of Partnership and Outreach at the Labor Market Regulatory Authority, and Shaikh Abdullah bin Khalid Al Khalifa from the Mission of Bahrain to Belgium, participated in the meetings.
