BJA president congratulates journalists on Bahraini Press Day

Manama, Isa Al Shaiji, President of the Bahraini Journalists Association (BJA), said that Bahraini journalism was dedicated to continuing its efforts to perform its duty in serving the nation and citizens.

The BJA president said that journalism faced challenges on a global scale. He noted that journalism in Bahrain was not excluded from those challenges, but it shall continue adhering to professional values to carry out its role.

In a statement on Bahrain Press Day which falls on May 7, the BJA president said the freedoms that resulted from the development and democratic advancement led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has empowered Bahraini to be “a voice expressing citizens’ concerns and aspirations”.

Al Shaiji commended the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for national journalism, highlighting his trust in its role as a tool to gauge public opinion and a contributor to the comprehensive development process led by His Majes
ty the King.

Al Shaiji congratulated Bahraini journalists on the occasion of Bahrain Press Day and expressed support for their efforts.

The BJA president highlighted the joint efforts between the Bahraini Journalists Association and local newspapers to continue developing journalism in Bahrain and train young Bahraini talents in this field.

Al Shaiji noted that Bahraini journalism is shouldering its responsibilities in countering hate speech, extremism and radicalism that seek to sow discord. He stressed that Bahrain journalism will remain steadfast in its adherence to national principles and in its unwavering support of security, stability, peace, and tolerance.
