Qatari Olympic and world champion Mutaz Essa Barshim won first place in the International High Jump Meeting on Monday in Heilbronn, Germany.
Barshim recorded a height of (2.31 meters), ahead of German Tobias Potye, who ranked second with a height of (2.29 meters), and Donald Thomas of the Bahamas, who came third with a height of (2.27 meters).
Barshim’s victory is considered a moral boost ahead of the Olympic Games (Paris 2024) from July 26 to August 11.
Barshim, who won three Olympic medals – silver in London 2012, silver in Rio de Janeiro 2016, and gold in Tokyo 2020 – is counting on the challenge of the upcoming Olympic Games to continue his successes as the most prominent athlete in the history of the high-jump and enhance his tally of Olympic medals.
