Bahraini Team clinches second place in inaugural Arab Camel Racing Cup

The Bahraini national team secured second place at the inaugural Arab Camel Racing Cup held last Friday at the Al Ula Governorate in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The Bahraini Camel racing team clinched the second spot in the overall rankings of the first Arab Camel Racing Cup, accumulating 21 points behind the Saudi team, which claimed the championship title in the Arab Camel Racing Federation’s inaugural event, with the UAE team securing third place.

“Shaheen,” owned by Khalifa Al Qaoud, claimed first place in the sixth round, known as the “Jathaa Qaadan Cup.” Additionally, “Al Sairami,” owned by Saud Faisal Shareem, secured first place in the eighth round, known as the ” Thanaya Qaadan Cup.”

Continuing Bahrain’s successes in the inaugural edition of the Arab Camel Racing Cup, “Musaieed,” owned by Khalifa Abdullah Al Qaoud, claimed first place in the ninth round, known as the “Zamoul Cup.”

All Bahraini achievements were in the races designated for robot jockey.

awi, VP of the Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee, President of the Saudi Camel Federation (SCRF) and President of the International Camel Racing Federation (ICRF), honoured the Bahraini delegation led by Ali Mohammed Al Fadhel, Deputy Chairman of the Bahraini Committee for Heritage Sports, and Mohammed Ayed Al Marri, a board member of the Bahraini Committee for Heritage Sports and the Manager of the Camel Racing Team, with three gold cups for the three rounds won by the Bahraini team.

The inaugural Arab Camel Racing Cup marks the beginning of the Arab Camel Racing Federation’s activities, comprising 13 rounds with a total prize of 3 million Saudi riyals. Bahrain participated with 40 registered Camels under the Bahraini Committee for Heritage Sports.

Sixteen Arab teams competed in the championship across 13 rounds. The races included distances of 2, 4, 5, 6, and 8 kilometers, with three rounds in the endurance race category (two for men and one for women) and ten rounds for the general category (robot jockey
) for the registered Camels in the Bakkar and Qaadan categories, namely, ” Hail, Thanaya Bakkar, Zamoul, and Thanaya Qaadan.’
