Manama: Dr. Khalid Ahmed Hassan, Undersecretary for Animal Wealth Resources at the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, inaugurated Bahrain’s second loz (tropical almond) festival. The festival will take place from July 5- 7 at Budaiya Botanical Garden’s Farmers Market.
The festival aims to support local farmers by providing a platform to market their products and offer visitors the opportunity to learn about loz (tropical almond) varieties, cultivation methods, and related manufacturing industries.
The festival highlights the significance of agriculture and the importance of preserving the fruit as a plant genetic resource in Bahrain.
The festival features the participation of 13 local farmers, alongside four productive farming families, and five plant nurseries. It also includes a display of loz seedlings and fruit varieties, a showcase of loz-related manufacturing industries, and activities for children. The ministry also planted 1,000 loz seedlings on the sidelines of the festival.
