The Bahraini delegation, led by Ambassador Dr. Arwa Hassan Al Sayed, the Head of the Human Rights Sector at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and member of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC)’s Permanent Independent Human Rights Commission (IPHRC), participated in the 21st session of IPHRC, which convened in Jeddah, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Addressing the thematic discussion session on commercial activities and human rights, Ambassador Dr. Arwa Hassan Al Sayed highlighted Bahrain’s unique experience in economic empowerment of the youth and women and how it contributes to achieving the sustainable development goals, Bahrain Economic Vision 2030, and the government’s programmes.
She also underscored the kingdom’s strides in promoting human rights, especially with regard to labour laws. She pointed out Bahrain’s steadfast commitment to improving the welfare of its workforce, guaranteeing fair treatment and providing a favourable work environment through comprehensive legislation.
Ambassador Dr. Arwa Hassan Al Sayed noted that Bahrain’s comprehensive efforts helped maintain its top tier ranking, for the fifth consecutive year, according to the US State Department report on Trafficking in Persons (TIP), to become the sole Arab country to achieve this rating.
