Bahrain delegation meets UN officials

Amna bint Ahmed Al Romaihi, the Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, and Noor bint Ali Al Khulaif, Minister of Sustainable Development, met with Abdallah Al Dardari, the Assistant Secretary-General, Assistant Administrator and Director of the Regional Bureau for Arab States of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The meeting was on the sidelines of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s participation at the United Nations High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development 2023, currently held at the UN Headquarters in New York, to present the country’s second Voluntary National Review (VNR) on the progress made towards achieving the sustainable development goals and accelerating the realization of the 2030 Agenda.

Al Romaihi and Alkhulaif affirmed that the Kingdom, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and with the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, has established sustainable development concepts and growth, adopting best practices to achieve citizens’ aspirations.

During the meeting, the two minister’s showcased Bahrain’s approach of applying innovative government mechanisms to achieve sustainable development goals.

They noted that presenting the country’s second Voluntary National Review (VNR) contributed positively to highlighting the Kingdom’s achievements and the expertise gained in this field, and reflected the Kingdom’s relentless efforts to overcome obstacles and manage challenges with full competence while integrating the 2030 Agenda into its development plans and the Government Plan, and its commitment to accelerating the pace of implementation of the sustainable development goals.

Al Dardari expressed his support for Bahrain’s leading experience in achieving sustainable development goals.

He praised the Kingdom’s ability to overcome challenges in a creative way and its keenness on international cooperation as well as exchange expertise, within the framework of its approach based on the principle of “leaving no one behind”.
