Bahrain has won more medals at the 15th Arab Sports Games, being held in Algeria until July 15.
The Bahrain national athletics team bagged three gold medals and a silver one, taking the kingdom’s tally to 20 medals, including 11 gold, 4 silver and 5 bronze ones.
Winfred Yavi claimed the gold medal of the 3,000-metre steeplechase race for women, after clocking 9:04:54 minutes, while Bontu Robitu won the gold medal after finishing the 10,000-metre race for women 31:40:02 minutes.
The third gold medal was clinched by the Bahrain women’s team who succeeded in winning the 4×100 relay race, after clocking 44:44 seconds.
Bahrain men’s athletics team won the silver medal of the 4×100 relay race, after clocking 40:19 seconds.
His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, General Sports Authority Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee President, was keen to celebrate the victories of Bahrain’s champions on his Instagram account, in line with HH’s constant interests in supporting the national teams.
