Baghdad Conference Recommends Strengthening Joint Arab Action to Combat Drugs

Participants in the 2nd Baghdad International Conference on Drug Control have called for the necessity of unifying joint regional and international efforts to enhance regional and global security in the face of the challenge of the spread and smuggling of drugs and psychotropic substances, to protect societies from the danger of this scourge.

At the conclusion of the conference on Monday, they recommended strengthening joint action mechanisms and adopting the principle of integration in security work to cut off drug smuggling routes, prevent their cultivation and manufacturing in various forms, and update databases of criminals and those wanted in cases of drug trafficking and psychotropic substances and protect them from penetration.

The participants also recommended adopting scientific methods and modern technologies, conducting parallel financial investigations, taking advantage of technology in detection, tracking, and monitoring operations, intensifying oversight, monitoring and tracking efforts for we
bsites and social media sites that are active in the field of promoting and trading in narcotics and psychotropic substances, and studying the possibility of expanding the establishment of rehabilitation centers for addicts, and drug users that contribute to ridding young people of addiction.
