Austria Triumphs Over Mali, Burkina Faso Edges Czech Republic in FIFA U-17 World Cup Group Matches

Doha: Austria secured a commanding 3-0 victory over Mali in their second Group L match of the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025 at Mohammed Ghanem Stadium within the Aspire Complex. This win has propelled Austria to the top of their group, ensuring their advancement to the next round with a perfect score of six points from two consecutive victories. Mali, with three points, currently holds second place in the group standings.

According to Qatar News Agency, Johannes Moser, Hasan Deshishku, and Niklas Dotzlhofer were the goal scorers for Austria, finding the back of the net in the 36th, 61st, and 90+5th minutes, respectively. This result showcased Austria’s dominance on the field and their readiness to progress further in the tournament.

In Group I, Burkina Faso claimed a narrow 2-1 win over the Czech Republic at the Badr Bilal Stadium. Burkina Faso’s Mohamed Zongo and Loukman Tapsoba scored in the 27th and 50th minutes. The Czech Republic’s Vit Skocken managed to equalize temporarily with a goal in the 30th minute. This victory marks Burkina Faso’s first three points, elevating them to second place in the group after an initial loss to the United States. The Czech Republic remains in third place, having secured three points from a previous 6-1 victory over Tajikistan.

Additionally, Group K witnessed a 1-1 draw between Uganda and Chile at Mahmoud Soufi Stadium. Chile initially led with Bruno Torres scoring in first-half stoppage time (45+3), but Uganda’s Derrick Ssoz equalized in second-half stoppage time (90+3). Both teams earned their first point, with Chile in fourth place due to a prior 2-0 loss to France, and Uganda in third following a 2-1 defeat to Canada.

Meanwhile, France and Canada played to a goalless draw at Khalid Ballan Stadium in the same group. Both teams increased their tally to four points, with France leading the group and Canada in second place.
