Dr. Khalid Fahad Al Alawi, the Assistant Undersecretary for Industrial Development at the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, participated in the 28th General Assembly of the Arab Industrial Development, Standardisation, and Mining Organisation (AIDSMO), held in Rabat, Morocco.
The Assistant Undersecretary highlighted the importance of aligning Arab countries’ strategies in the fields of industry, standardisation, and mining to develop plans to address manufacturing gaps and achieve industrial integration. The Assistant Undersecretary noted that Bahrain’s industrial sector strategy (2022-2026) focuses on enhancing supply chains through industrial integration. The meeting discussed several topics, including the achievements of the organisation between the 27th and 28th General Assemblies, the partnership outcomes between the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and AIDSMO, and future partnership prospects. Additionally, the World Association for Food Law review the Arab Codex Initiative, the industrial integration strategy, and its general framework.
Several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed during the meeting, notably between the Gulf Organisation for Industrial Consulting (GOIC) and AIDSMO, to exchange expertise and knowledge in developing industrial strategies. Various reports related to the organisation’s work and the launch of the Arab Standardisation and Quality Strategy (2024-2028) were also reviewed.
