Arab Summit: Arab League Secretary-General Says Arab Countries Must Work Together to Defend Interests

Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Abo Al Ghait said that Arab countries are in a historic and difficult moment that must see them hold firm to their interest and commit to coordinate with one another to face the pressures of polarization.

This came during his speech at the 32nd regular session of the Arab League Council at the summit level. He said that the international community was facing incredibly dangerous times, with the increased competition between major powers at the expense of smaller countries. He said that this requires Arab countries to remain steadfast in defending their interests and work together to face that.

He said that the developments in Sudan adds to the many conflicts in the Arab world, noting that it was civilians who were paying the price for the military conflict. He said that it was time for such confrontations to end, and for the Sudanese parties to commit to dialogue to protect the people and save Sudan’s unity and national institutions.
