Riyadh: The Arab League has confirmed that it fully stands with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in confronting everything that would compromise its security, stability, and sovereignty.
According to Qatar News Agency, this support comes in response to recent remarks made by the Houthi group's military spokesperson, which included false accusations and threats directed at the Kingdom. The Arab League condemned these statements as unacceptable and a grave escalation that could increase regional tensions and hinder ongoing de-escalation efforts.
In a statement on Tuesday, Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy emphasized that such threats would undermine security and stability. He called on the Houthi group to cease its escalatory rhetoric and avoid any actions or remarks that could further exacerbate tensions.
Fahmy urged for the prioritization of diplomatic dialogue and adherence to regional and global efforts to reach a comprehensive political settlement for the Yemeni crisis. He stressed that diplomacy is the best path to achieving security and stability in Yemen and the broader region.
The Secretary-General also highlighted that the security of Saudi Arabia and its territorial integrity are integral to the Arab national security framework. In this context, he reaffirmed the League's support for all lawful actions Saudi Arabia undertakes to protect its national security and territorial integrity, in accordance with international law and the UN Charter.
