Arab League Praises Qatar, Egypt, and US for Ceasefire Mediation in Gaza

Cairo: The Arab League welcomed the ceasefire deal in the Gaza Strip, praising the mediation efforts made by the State of Qatar, the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the United States.

According to Qatar News Agency, Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, stated that the primary focus following the ceasefire is to ensure a substantial amount of aid reaches the Gaza Strip. He emphasized the importance of enabling displaced individuals to return to their homes swiftly, particularly in the northern regions of Gaza.

Aboul Gheit highlighted the significance of completely halting the Israeli military actions in Gaza and maintaining the terms of the ceasefire agreement. He stressed that the ultimate goal is the full withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, aligning with the borders established on June 4, 1967.

He reiterated the unity of the West Bank and Gaza Strip as the territory of a future Palestinian state, rejecting any efforts to divide these regions. This stance is supported by Palestinians, Arabs, and the global community.

The Secretary-General asserted that the two-state solution is the only viable path to prevent the recurrence of the prolonged suffering experienced by the Palestinian people and the broader region. He argued that establishing a Palestinian state is essential for ensuring security for both Palestinian and Israeli populations.

Aboul Gheit also mentioned that reconstruction efforts should commence promptly after initial recovery steps are taken, acknowledging the extensive damage caused by the prolonged Israeli strikes on Gaza.
