Cairo: The Arab League Council has called for the full implementation of all stages of the Gaza ceasefire agreement, strongly condemning Israel’s violation of the ceasefire and its resumption of attacks on Palestinian civilians, which have resulted in over 400 deaths and hundreds of injuries, including women and children.
According to Qatar News Agency, this demand was part of a resolution issued during the extraordinary session of the Arab League Council at the level of permanent representatives, held Wednesday at the League’s headquarters in Cairo. The session was convened at the request of Palestine to address Israel’s violations of the ceasefire and its continued aggression against the Palestinian people.
The Council urged the international community to fulfill all legal obligations related to the protection of Palestinian civilians, particularly the implementation of UN Security Council Resolutions 904 (1994) and 605 (1987), as well as the UN General Assembly resolution on the protection of Palestinian civilians.
The Council warned that Israel’s persistent violations of the ceasefire and its continued crimes of aggression, genocide, and ethnic cleansing against the Palestinian people over the past 17 months, including during the holy month of Ramadan, constitute a blatant violation of human rights and divine laws, provoking the sentiments of people worldwide.
The Council also called on the United States, as one of the guarantors of the ceasefire agreement, to pressure Israel to cease its violations, implement all stages of the agreement, and immediately proceed with the second and third phases, including withdrawing from all areas of Gaza and lifting the blockade.
The Council strongly condemned Israel’s aggression and ethnic cleansing in the occupied West Bank, including the destruction of Palestinian refugee camps, forced displacement of residents, illegal colonial settlements, settler terrorism, apartheid policies, home demolitions, land confiscation, infrastructure destruction, military raids on Palestinian cities, villages, and camps, and violations of sacred sites.
The Council urged the activation of resolutions from Arab and Islamic summits to break the blockade on Gaza, enforce the entry of Arab, Islamic, and international humanitarian aid convoys, and ensure access for international organizations to the Strip.
It also called for the protection of aid workers and enabling them to perform their roles fully. Furthermore, the Council demanded that all countries fulfill their legal obligations to ensure respect for international law, refrain from complicity in its violations, and prohibit economic and military dealings with the illegal Israeli occupation.
