Doha: Apple has announced a delay in the introduction of its advanced OLED screen technology, known as Color Filter on Encapsulation (CoE) OLED, for several years. This technology, initially planned for the company's 20th anniversary phone, will now be implemented in the iPhone Pro by late 2029.
According to Qatar News Agency,The CoE OLED technology offers several advantages by eliminating the traditional polarizing layer found in OLED displays. While this layer typically helps reduce blur and reflections, its removal can enhance screen quality, reduce power consumption, and allow for a thinner device design.
Despite Apple's delay, Samsung has already integrated a version of CoE technology in its Galaxy Z Fold3 phone, released in 2021. UBI Research, which reported on Apple's timeline, did not specify the reasons for the delay. However, a report by ET News suggests that Apple previously considered the CoE technology insufficiently mature for widespread use in iPhones.
Apple is expected to adopt CoE OLED displays once the technology is deemed practical for mass application, due to its various benefits, including improved display quality and reduced costs.
