Amman:The 25th Amman International Book Fair has commenced, bringing together nearly 400 publishing houses from local, Arab, and international backgrounds. The event will run until October 3, with Syria honored as the guest nation.
According to Qatar News Agency, Qatar is participating through its Ministry of Culture and several Qatari publishing houses. This involvement highlights Qatar's commitment to cultural engagement in Arab events and provides Jordanian readers access to Qatar's latest literary and cultural offerings.
The fair's cultural program features approximately 60 events, including intellectual, critical, and philosophical seminars, poetry readings, story sessions, workshops, and documentary screenings, with around 40 guest speakers from Arab countries and China.
At the opening ceremony, Jordanian Minister of Culture Mustafa Al Rawashdeh stressed the need for the publishing industry to embrace modern technologies like artificial intelligence and data analytics to enhance Arab cultural content and improve digital book accessibility.
Syrian Minister of Culture Mohammad Yassin Saleh noted that Syria's role as the guest of honor allows it to present its literary and intellectual contributions, showcasing new creative voices and research reflecting the country's rich cultural heritage.
