Algeria’s President Abdelmadjid Tebboune announced Thursday his official candidacy for a second presidential term in the early elections, scheduled to be held on Sep. 7.
Tebboune explained, in statements, that the announcement of his candidacy for the presidential race comes at the request of political organizations and youth, pointing out that he will respect the voters decision Last March, the Algerian President announced the holding of early presidential elections on Sep. 7 that is, three months before their previously scheduled date, after he won a first term of five years that began in 2019, and is renewable once according to the text of the local constitution. The law regarding the electoral system in Algeria requires candidates running for the presidential ballot to submit at least 50,000 individual signatures from voters registered on an electoral list in at least 29 states, and the number of signatures required from each state is not less than 1,200 signatures, or to collect 600 individual signature
