Al Waha Fund of Funds, Hambro Perks launch first fintech venture studio in the region

On the sidelines of the visit of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to the United Kingdom (UK), the Al Waha Fund of Funds announced the launch of the first fintech venture studio “Spring Studios” in collaboration with the UK-based global venture capital firm “Hambro Perks”.

Areije Al Shakar, Al Waha Fund Manager, affirmed Bahrain’s commitment to investing in and establishing a thriving ecosystem for financial technology, as it aims to become a leading fintech innovation hub that attracts global investments.

Al Shakar added that Spring Studios is the first venture studio of its kind focusing on financial technology in the MENA region.

She noted that the studio will co-found and invest directly into the next generation of fintech startups and will focus on attracting highly skilled international talent, while training local talent through upskilling, internships, and educational initiatives in partnership with local institutions.

Al Waha Fund of Funds is a Bahraini sovereign fund managed by Bahrain Development Bank that focuses on stimulating growth in the venture capital industry and developing tech startups in Bahrain.
