Baghdad, Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’ al-Sudani underlined today the necessity of strengthening security in Syria because of its role in achieving stability in the region as well.
Meeting with the Turkish Minister of Defense,Yasar Guler, in Baghdad, al-Sudani stressed ‘the importance of preserving security in Syria as that will be reflected on national security of the region states,’ according to INA.
In a related context, and in reference to the repeated Turkish attacks on northern Iraq, al-Sudani reiterated his full rejection to undermining Iraq’s sovereignty and to any measures to settle scores.
He also voiced his commitment to the constitutional principles of preventing the use of Iraqi lands to attack neighboring countries, noting in this regard ‘the necessity of coordination between the two countries in order to create the foundations for stability.’
During his meeting with Guler earlier today, Iraqi President, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, attached great importance to respecting Iraqi sovereignt
y and stopping the Turkish military violations, stressing the need to address the water issue and ensure a fair share for Iraq.
