Doha:Al Ahli's Spanish coach Borja Jimenez has confirmed his team's readiness to face Al Sailiya on Saturday at Al Thumama Stadium. This matchup is part of Week 5 in the Qatar football league, known as the Doha Bank Stars League, and Jimenez emphasized the importance of securing a victory to improve the team's position in the standings.
According to Qatar News Agency, Jimenez expressed confidence in his players' ability to perform well, having prepared both physically and psychologically during the league break. He noted that the team had been working on resolving technical issues identified in previous matches to enhance their performance in the upcoming phase.
Al Ahli defender William Troost-Ekong echoed his coach's sentiments, confirming the team's determination to continue winning and focusing on collecting points before the next international break.
On the other side, Al Sailiya coach Mirghani Al Zain stated that the league break was an invaluable period for preparing his team. Al Sailiya played four friendly matches during this time, aiming to ready as many players as possible, correct mistakes, and bolster their technical and tactical performance. Al Zain acknowledged the challenge of facing Al Ahli but remained hopeful that his team would secure all three points.
Al Sailiya player Abdulaziz Metwally highlighted that the team focused on addressing weaknesses and correcting past mistakes during the break. He noted that these preparations had positively impacted the players' performances, and Al Sailiya aim to achieve their first victory in the competition against Al Ahli. Currently, Al Ahli holds ninth place in the standings with four points from one win, one draw, and two defeats. In contrast, Al Sailiya is at the bottom of the league in 12th place, having yet to secure a point after four consecutive losses.
