An earthquake measuring 5 magnitude on the Richter scale struck Wednesday the islands of Vanuatu, located in the South Pacific Ocean.
The quake occurred 214 km south of the town of Isangel, at a depth of 109.4 km, the US Geological Survey said.
No casualties or material losses were reported so far.
Vanuatu Island, an archipelago of volcanic origin in the South Pacific Ocean, is located on the Pacific Ring of Fire, where tectonic plates meet and their friction with each other leads to seismic activity.
