5.3-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes US State of Alaska

An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the richter scale struck southwest of cordova: The US Geological Survey reported that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 13.3 kilometers. No casualties or damage have been reported so far.

According to Qatar News Agency, Alaska lies within the Pacific Ring of Fire, a region of intense seismic and volcanic activity caused by the collision of tectonic plates.
