5.1 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Off Vanuatu

An earthquake measuring 5.1 magnitude on the Richter scale struck islands of Vanuatu, located in the South Pacific Ocean, on Thursday.

The US Geological Survey said that the quake occurred 100 km south of Luganville, at a depth of 10 km.

No casualties or material losses were reported.

Vanuatu is an archipelago of volcanic origin that lies on the Pacific Ring of Fire, a zone of frequent seismic activity.
