5.1-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Kermadec Islands Off New Zealand Coast

An earthquake measuring 5.1 magnitude on the Richter scale struck Wednesday the Kermadec Islands off the coast of New Zealand.

The US Geological Survey (USGS) said that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 55.6 km.

There have been no reports of casualties or material losses due to the earthquake so far.

The Kermadec Islands are often exposed to strong earthquakes, the last of which was last April, with a magnitude of 5.5.
