Balikesir: A 4.9-magnitude earthquake struck Balikesir province in western Turkiye this afternoon.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) reported that the epicenter of the quake was centered in the Sindirgi district of Balikesir province, at a depth of 7.72 km.
The statement indicated that the tremor was felt by residents of Balikesir and neighboring provinces, with no reports of injuries or material damage so far.
A 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck the same region last month, killing one person and collapsing several buildings.
